Life On Your Own Terms

LIFE ON YOUR OWN TERMS:
I have two cats and a retreat centre.
Never have I owned a dog.
The retreat centre sees many new people passing through each week and most love cats as I do. However this week we had some guests who didn’t like cats,

“They’re so snooty”
“They only love you on their terms”

And it got me thinking…..

I think this is actually WHY I love cats so much.
THEY DON’T CARE WHAT ANYONE ELSE THINKS; THEY LIVE LIFE ON THEIR OWN TERMS.

Which is the opposite to most of us.
We follow trends.
Act like sheep as we go along with the majority.
We don’t ask enough questions.

I have quite strong views on many things.
I’ve realised that drinking alcohol is the most ridiculous activity even though the majority do it: it is a poison.

I’ve realised that eating sugar is the most ridiculous activity even though EVERYONE does it: it is a poison.

I’ve realised that watching the news on tv, reading newspapers and gossip-type magazines is the most ridiculous activity even though the majority do it: it feeds us poison.

I’ve realised that working 9-5 as an employee limits you and puts you in a box. You are contained within a set-time and within set-pay; whereas I believe the exact opposite:

We are unlimited beings
Capable of unlimited lives
Yet we cage ourselves with boundaries and restrictions:

‘I can only earn this much’
‘I can only feel that much’
‘I will only ever reach a certain point’
‘I don’t deserve happiness, success, love, good health…..’

Can you dare think beyond these limiting beliefs?
Will you today think like a cat, and live on your own terms?

-If you’ve woken up with a hangover today, switch your thinking and start to BELIEVE that you deserve to FEEL more rather than numbing out from reality.
-If you normally eat a sugary cereal for breakfast, put sugar in your tea, have a sugary snack for elevensies, a sandwich for lunch (bread contains sugar), more tea in your afternoon cuppa with a slice of cake, and a pudding after dinner, start to BELIEVE that you deserve more than pummelling your body with this toxin.
-If you begin your day with a barrage of negative news stories from around the world, realise that you are only getting half of the story; what our governments want us to know. There are many stories out there of achievement and overcoming adversity, but they are rarely reported on.
Instead start to BELIEVE that you deserve more; remove those that write toxic words on Facebook and fill your feed with poison, I have. I now open my day with a stream of uplifting and supportive words; I made the decision long ago that I have control over this.

MY FEED, MY CHOICE.
My body, my choice.
My life, my choice.
Maybe I sound as snooty as my cat!
I definitely live life on my own terms now.
And it feels like the wool that has been covering my eyes for so long has totally gone.
And i’m so much happier now, and I know that by living like this I give the green light for others to do the same.

What makes you happy? = Do more of that
What makes you healthy? = Do more of that
What makes you feel at peace? = Do more of that
What makes you feel alive? = Do more of that

Your life – Your rules
TAKE BACK YOUR POWER
And have a wonderful day!

The following quote has resonated with me for a long time and is included in my first novel published in 2012:

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
