There is nothing like hearing it from the horse’s mouth as they say, and here is something that an online member who also has done the residential retreat posted yesterday in our secret forum:
“Yesterday I was reminded about how far this journey to sobriety takes us. Someone I know is wrapped up in a negative spiral of bad outcomes and is manifesting them for herself. She’s seeing problems where they don’t currently exist and hitting out because she’s feeling vulnerable. A never ending cycle of ‘what if’, ‘why is this happening’, ‘everyone is out to get me’, ‘it’s not fair’, I’m so unhappy’, ‘I need a drink’….. Wait, what? I need a drink? What changes as you do this journey is how you approach life, and how you react to things. Yesterday, this person asked me how I managed to be so calm and positive. I answered from my heart and said, “Honestly? When I stopped drinking, the drama stopped, it took time but it stopped”. The person paused, then started talking about the big G&T they were going to have when they got home. As Jo De Rosa is always saying, we are the lucky ones. And we are. We know how to stop the drama.“
